Demonstration of new submarine escape technique

Oct. 04, 1954 - Navy give their first public demonstration of the new Free Escape Method from Submarines: The Royal Navy today gave their first public demonstration of the latest method by which men can escape from submarines. The demonstration tool place at HMS Dolphin and tests were made in a 100 foot water tank. The new escape system enables men to ascend safely from sunken submarines without breathing apparatus. Photo shows a submariner equipped with Davis escape apparatus and wearing the new immersion suit demonstrates the entry into the Twill Trunk escape method
