Demonstration at the Oval cricket ground, London
May 05, 1970 - DEMONSTRATION AT THE OVAL: West India cricketers playing for English counties will be pilloried if they refuse to support calls to stop the South African tour, the West Indian Campaign Against Apartheid Cricket said yesterday. The campaign has had only five replies to 30 letters sent to all West Indian and Asian players in Britain urging them to refuse to help the promotion of the tour by publicly declaring they would not support it. A demonstration against Gary Sobers and three other black players in the Nottinghamshire team was held at the Oval today, where Notts play Surrey.
