Demonstration of scooter ski, St Katherine's Dock, London
Jun. 06, 1967 - Demonstrating the Unique Scooter ski in London's St. Katherine's Dock: Production is now under way at Reliant's Tamworth, Staffordshire factories of a unique fun craft the 25 mph Scooter Ski'. It has been designed and developed by Scooter Ski Ltd. of Long Eaton, Nottingham, who are confident it will sell all over the world and open up new British export markets. The Scooter Ski is a completely new type of marine craft, combining the pleasures of water skiing, speedboat racing and leisure cruising. It is a light craft easy to handle and sells for less than £150. A demonstration of the unique craft was held in St. Katherine's Dock, London E1 today. The inboard power plant is a 6 bhp, 130 as Aspera two-stroke unit and steering is controlled by a rudder at the front attached to the bicycle-style handlebars, which also incorporate the twist-grip escalator as on a motor scooter.
