Demonstration of Secondite's fire-resisting qualities

Jan. 01, 1954 - Demonstration of Qualities of Secondite: A demonstration of the exceptional qualities of Secondite to resist fire and acids and as an insulating material when used as a building material, as a filter to separate light oils from water, in the standard petrol engine, was held today at Marylebone Goods Station. Secondite, which was invented by Angelo Secundi, an Italian, is a name which has been given to rice hulls after they have been treated by a patent process. After this treatment, Secondite is an inorganic substance of a very high silica content. Photo shows Angelo Secundi, the Italian inventor, holds a Secondite slab against his face while Charles Spring uses an acetylene torch against the material to demonstrate the fire-resisting quality of the Secondite
