Demonstration by taxi drivers over licence issue, Athens

Feb. 02, 1965 - 500 Greek taxi drivers, escorted by their wives, clashed with police during demonstrations in front of the parliament building in Athens. The drivers were protesting against the Prime Minister Mr. Papandreou, who has refused to permit the issue of licences for taxi drivers since the existing number is much bigger than it should be. Sixteen policemen and fifteen of the demonstrators were injured, and 24 others were arrested.
