Demonstration of unsinkable swimsuits, Battersea, London

Sep. 09, 1952 - Demonstration of Unsinkable Swimsuits At The Battersea Pleasure Gardens. An unsinkable swimsuit which looks like an ordinary bathing suit was demonstrated in the River Thames at Battersea Pleasure Gardens this afternoon. A number of models paraded in the suits and demonstrated its unsinkable qualities - including an eight year old girl, a 32 year old infantile paralysis victim, and a young woman whose hands were tied behind her back - feet and legs also tied. Keystone Photo Shows: Jean Manchester of Morecambe with her hands, feet and legs tied is thrown into the water during the demonstration at Battersea this afternoon
