Demonstration against US/UK visit, Sur (Tyre), Lebanon

May 05, 1967 - Demonstration protesting against the visit of US and UK envoys to Sur. Lebanon Inhabitants of Sur (Tyre) this week rose in protest against a projected visit of the US and UK Ambassadors to their city at the invitation to lunch by Kazem El-Khalil, vice-president of the Lebanese Liberal National Party led by former Lebanese president Kamil Suamoun. Demonstrators carried placards denouncing the projected visit of the US Sixth fleet to the country. The two envoys could not approach the city due to this situation.
