Jul. 07, 1944 - Conciliatory moves in the Postman's strike Threat P.M.G. attends Cabinet Meting at No 10: it appears that the Government is now ready to give the postmen a bigger pay rise provided they call off the National Strike due to begin at Midnight on Saturday. First of the peace moves came at the meeting between Chancellor of the Exchequer. Mr.Maudling and Mr. Ron Smith the postmen leader. a Cabinet meeting was held at 10.
