Jul. 27, 1953 - Hungry Crowds Warned To Refuse Free Food Parcels From The West - Communists Say Its An Insult': Food, the first of 1, 000, 000 parcels of it, weighing 5, 000-tons, offered free to thousands of hungry East Germans today. But the East Germans have been warned not to accept them, or else'. It is an attempt to recruit agents for the West - they say. Yesterday the East Berlin City Government executive council told the famine hit city You must not enter West Berlin to get these food parcels. Those who defy the order are threatened with punishment.
