Oct. 10, 1958 - 10-3-58. A.E. Matthews Continues His Lamp-Post-Protest'. Eighty nine year old actor A.E. Matthews is staging a sit-down-strike outside his three hundred year old cottage in Bushey Lane, Bushey, Herta. He is determined that the local council shall not install a modern lamp-post. He says he will sit alongside the hole-in which the post is to be fixed-continuously until the Council changes its mind. Keystone Photo Shows:-Well wrapped up-A.E.
