May 05, 1956 - Turkish youths riot in Cyprus. Turkish leader is carried shoulder high.: A mob of Turkish youths, angered by yesterday's incident at Vassilia, when 24 people wee injured - today stoned Greek shops and cars in Nicosia. Police and troops hurled tear gas bombs to subdue the rioters. Dr. Fasil Kutchuk, the Turkish leader in the island was carried shoulder high after speaking to demonstrators.
