Sep. 08, 1960 - Girl Strikers On Picket Duty. 18-year old Linda James, of the Transport and General Workers Union, is London's prettiest shop steward, and strike leader of 12 girl machinists from a metal factory in Kennington, London, who walked to on Tuesday after a demand for a 42-hour week had been refused.
