Jan. 22, 1968 - Students riot at Louvain ? Flemmish and French speaking Belgians are again at each other?s throats. Flemmish students at the ancient Catholic university of Louvain take violent exception to the introduction of French into some of the faculties. Louvain, they claim, is Flemmish soil; and the university therefore must be maintained as a Flemmish preserve. French speaking students and staff should emigrate to Wallonie.
