Feb. 02, 1968 - Workers in protest march.Five thousand angry men and women downed tools yesterday in protest over plans to shut their factory. the workers, from the associated electrical industries plant in woolwich, London then marched in a mile-long queue to a cinema where they met union chiefs. Mr. Christopher may new, M.p for east woolwich, who addressed the meeting, described the company's decision to close the factory as a bombsheli which has wrecked the entire area's employment situation. phto show a pile of banners, discarded by the workers before attending the meeting at the cinema in Woolwoich yesterday
