May 05, 1970 - Oriental Patience.: A huge number of Japanese commuters wait calmly to board the few non-striking trains in Tokyo Central station, during the 24 hour strike by railwaymen on most of the privately run rail services. The railway workers are demanding a Yen 10, 000 monthly pay increase, and the management has offered Yen 8, 950, which may satisfy their demands. Some 11, 738, 000 persons were affected by the strike of 13 major private railways
