Jul. 07, 1973 - Japanese Fishmongers protest sea pollution scaring customers.:Thousands of Japanese fishmongers stage a protest march through the streets of Tokyo with signs declaring that chemical factories have polluted the sea with harmful waste water containing mercury. Since the extend of the poisoning of fish has been made known to the public, house-wives have stopped buying their fish, and some say that they have closed shop, and are on the verge of bankrupcy. They are demanding compensation from the factories as well as the fishermen who have stopped fishing, and charge the government to act quickly
