Demonstrations

May 05, 1975 - Sheep Meadow - Central Park, New York City: Vietnam is over. That was the theme as thousands jammed Sheep Meadow recently in a victory really to celebrate the peace and mourn the dead and try to make sure that none of it would ever happen again, there was singing and dancing fundraising and antiwar speeches, And in among the crowds were labor and third World leaders as well as Congresswoman Bella Abzug and Joan Bael the folk singer. Mother of American war resisters were out to drum up support and signatures for amnesty petitions to bring back their sons. Actor Ossie Davis presided over the event which opened with an ecumenical service for all faiths. All funds raised will be sent to Indochina for medical aid and the grim business of reconstruction
