Feb. 02, 1974 - Police forces clear Frankfurt/M. Apartment houses occupied illegally by students and migrant workers:t all started in September 1971 already, when studentsnd migrant workers, short of housing space, moved into our empty and rather old apartment houses, situated in Frankfurt/M.'s Westend. The houses were designate to beorn down son. In their place a new 28 storey-high office building is planned to be erected. August 1973, however the owner of the houses havemmoned by a court decision to clear their properties ofe occupants, the latter, though, did not pay any heed.nally, early Wednesday morning, on February 20th, stronglice forces (260 men) were called upon to clear the hc-s from the illegal occupants. Approxim. 50 students and grant workers living there were taken into custody onis day. Against the police measures, thousands of peo- protected and demonstrated vehemently in the centre ofrankfurt city in the afternoon of the dame day.anwhile the houses are torn down, indeed.
