Aug. 30, 1977 - August 30th, 1977 Violence flares at the Notting Hill Carnival Mobs of rioting youths clashed with the police during the Notting Hill Carnival last night, as police moved in they were met with a hail of beer cans and bottles, bricks and chair legs. By midnight the number of injured had reached 220, of which 90 were taken to hospital, some with stab wounds.
