1981 - Rioting hits Brixton for the second night: Rioting, looting and arson spread through the the streets of Brixton, in South London last night, for the second successive night running- with police using their riot shields to charge the marauding gangs of youth-most, but not all of the, black, Police buses sad vans were attacked and shops, pubs and care set alight. By late last night 201 policemen and two policewomen had been injured and 213 people arrested since the weekend trouble flared up on Saturday evening.
