Demonstrations following Rudi Dutschke attack, Germany
Apr. 16, 1968 - Tensions reached a fever point across Germany as demonstrations were held all across the country on Easter Day in major cities like Berlin, Munich, and Frankfurt following the assassination attempt on the political activist Rudi Dutschke. Police were thoroughly prepared for the protests. In Munich over 1, 000 officials were on duty. Nightsticks and water cannons were used as well and over 110 people were arrested. Demonstrators are pictured here as they are being arrested
