Demonstrations following Rudi Dutschke attack, Germany
Apr. 16, 1968 - Tensions reached a fever point across Germany as demonstrations were held all across the country on Easter Day in major cities like Berlin, Munich, and Frankfurt following the attempted assassination of the political activist Rudi Dutschke. Police were thoroughly prepared for the protests. In Munich over 1, 000 officials were on duty. Nightsticks and water cannons were used as well and over 110 people were arrested. Police are pictured here using water cannons to disperse protesters
