Nov. 11, 1977 - Sporty Meeting between East and West: One of the national sports in Denmark is cycling. And this has resulted in the meeting of the representatives of the two super powers, the Soviet Union and USA. Cycling through the streets of Copenhagen and on the cycle racing track, there was no competition between the Soviet ambassador, in Denmark, Nikolai G Egorytchev, 57, and the American ambassador, John Gunther Dean, 51. During the days of the cold war they could hardly smile to each other. Why should we compete, we are colleague is in the diplomatic service, they agreed iin saying. If all future confrontations between the two nations would be so successful, the world would be much more at ease.
