Sep. 09, 1953 - Reception at R.A.F. Club for Author of Boldness be my friend'. It would have scared most ex-airmen to have to lecture so many of the R.A.F's top brass. Not so Richard Pape. who worked his way up to be a Warrant officer in War-time, but was never commissioned. Among his audience at London's R.A.F. Club last night were three Air Marshals (Tedder, Fogarty, Whitworth Jones). He was telling the high-ups about his new book Boldness be my Friend'. which describes his escapes from German prison camps, also showing them some of the gadgets he used to get away. Photo Shows Richard Pape (centre) seen with one of his gadgets ( used for creating a draught for cooking ) with Lord Tedder ( left ) and Sir Archibald Mcindale, the famous plastic surgeon, during the reception last night
