Dec. 12, 1952 - Canadian Engineer Prepares For 10, 500 Mile Trip On His Home-Made Motor Scooter. Canadian Engineer and Designer Mr. Spike Rhiando of Cobham, Surrey, is preparing to leave at the week-end on a 10, 500 mile trip to Capetown on his home-made Motor Scooter. The machine has a centrally hosted air-conditioned cab of plastic glass - a self-starter; -s two way radio - and cost him £1, 400 to construct. He hopes to market similar machines for about £150.
