Oct. 10, 1957 - Sir William Penney heads inquiry team at Windscale following radio active dust leak: Sir William Penney is leader of the atomic expert team, now inquiring into the recent happenings at Windscle Plutonium factory, in which radio active dust escaped from the 500 ft high chimneys. All milk in the area has been banned from distribution. Sir William yesterday called for an R.A.F helicopter to hover over the plant with special equipment to test for radio activity.
