Feb. 02, 1959 - Poisoned Scientist - Loved his secretary: Fifty five year old bachelor scientist Dr. James Albert Darbyshired -Chief physicist at the Ferranti electronics laboratory was found dead in his laboratory - from cyanide posoning. Yesterday 27 year old Mrs. Doreen Cooper said that the scientist was in love with her Mrs. Cooper quit her job as his secretary three weeks ago - and she said he broke down an decried'. Mrs. Cooper said their friendship was purely platonic and the Dr. was upset when she married three years ago- and he was jealous of the life she led outside the office.
