Nov. 11, 1959 - Degree of an honorary doctor for miner Otto Holzl: A rather unusual degree of an honorary doctor has been awarded, a few days ago, to the miner Otto Holzl (OTTO HOLZL), 62, at Hausham near Munich (HAUSAM). The scientific faculty of the Munich university awarded him this high distinction because the miner in years of hard and difficult work studied works of geology and paleontology, and within a number of decades, he became a well-known expert on this topic. Holzl who until 1951 worked in the coal mine of Hausham, 40 years ago started his geological studies. His collection of fossils is known among experts and much valued. Photo shows Dr. h.c.
