Personnel operating in the extremes of climate form the hottest to the coldest - are investigated at the most up to date laboratories - which have been constructed at the R.A.F. Institute of Aviation Medicine - the Climatic Research Laboratory - Farnborough. The Lab was constructed so that the temperatures - humidity etc. could be controlled - while the experiments and tests were being carried out.. Keystone Photo Shows:- Flying Officer G. D. Forwell an R.A.F. Doctor is investigating the seating from the sole of the foot. In the experiment the right foot is in a Hot bath while the left is in a Cold one. The subjects body temperature is kept constant by conducting the experiment in a thermatically controlled room. The sweat is collected on foot pads and analysed. The results of this test are applied to the scientific design of footwear suitable for use in hot and cold climates and also to the prevention of common ailments affecting the feet in such extremes of climate
