Apr. 17 TV Telescope: A difficulty in astronomical photography is penetrating our own atmosphere. The British firm of Pye Ltd. has tackled this by mounting a television camera on a refractor telescope. The super-sensitive image tube cuts down exposure time, minimizing the effects of atmospheric tremor. Pye has been invited by Lowell Observatory, Arizona to send a team to Bloomfontein, Union of South Africa, this summer to photograph Mars. Photo shows a modified Pye underwater image orthicon TV camera mounted on the 12 in. refractor at a recent international astronomical congress
