Aug. 09, 1961 - Dr. Frank Bughman, Founder of the Oxford Group and Mra Died Tuesday.: Dr. Frank N. D. Bughman, founder and lead of the Oxford Group which had later gained world-wide influence as Moral - Re - Armament (MRA) died yesterday at Freudenstadt, West Germany. He was 83. Buchman, the son of strict Lutheran Pennsylvanians, began organizing his movement in 1908 after hearing a sermon from a woman preacher in Keswick while on holidays in Britain. Within years his group - first known as the Oxford Group - became known and attracted thousands of followers. After the war, it preached the need for Moral Re-Armament of the world to provide a bastion against the inroads of world Communism. Photo shows Dr. Bughman
