Jul. 07, 1961 - German more-purpose research reactor for Karlsruhe In Karlsruhe, West-Germany, Minister Balke announced the building of a research and testing reactor with a thermic capacity of 200, 000 kilo-watt. The reactor is to be erected in Karlsruhe. This is a more-purpose research reactor of the Siemens-Schuckert-Works which is to produce electricity, to test burning elements etc. It will be an entire German project and it is a, so far, unique kind of reactor in the Western world.
