May 17, 1963 - The Automatic Cow: An American invention which is being used at a farm in Cumberland, and is believed to be the first in the North of England, is this automatic cow'. The machine mixes it's own milk, and feeds it at body temperature through a test, and as the supply is unlimited all the calves can have as much as they need and there is no risk of the weaker ones being pushed out by the stronger ones and not getting their full share of milk. This machine can look after 18 calves, and could mean a five-day week for farmers, as it can run for three days without attention.
