Oct. 17, 1964 - Professor Feodor Lynen presents a satisfied smile after he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine, along with American Professor Konrad Bloch. He is leader of the Max-Planck Institute for Cell Chemistry and dean of Munich University's Biochemistry Institute. He was awarded around 212, 000DM(which he splits with the other winner) for his work over the mechanisms of the transference of cholesterol and fatty acids, which has pointed the way in the treatment of circulatory disease.
