1968 - Europe's first heart transplant operation; It was revealed today that Europe's first heart transplant operation took place in Paris over the week-end at the hospital de la Pitie, and was performed by Professor Christian Cabrol, helped by two young Surgeons, Dr. Gerald Guiraudon and Dr. Jean Facuet and a team of 30. The recipient is 66 year old truck driver Clovis Roblain, and the donor was a 23 year old man who died after an operation for serious head injuries.
