Apr. 29, 1968 - EUROPE'S FIRST HEART TRANSPLANT OPERATION: It was revealed today that Europe's first heart-transplant operation took place in Paris over the week-end at the Hospital de la Pitie, and was performed by Professor Christian Cabrol, helped by two young surgeons, Dr. Gerard Guiraudon and Dr. Jean Facquet and a team of 30. The recipients is 66-year old truck driver, Clovis Roblain, and the Denor as a 23-year old man who died after an operation for serious head injuries.
