Mar. 03, 1972 - March 3rd 1972 Thalidomide Doctor warns of new drug fear Dr. William McBride, the Australian gynecologist who discovered the deforming effect of Thalidomide on unborn babies, today warned that he has found another deformative drug widely prescribed to British women. Writing in the Australian Medical Journal, Dr. McBride named the drug as Imipramine and said: I am of the opinion that it is the cause of limb deformities in babies if taken in early pregnancy.
