Jan. 01, 1973 - 100th Birthday Of Albert Schweitzer: On January 14th, 1975 it will be 100 years ago that Albert Schweitzer was born in Ksysarsberg/Alsace. The Protestant theologian, physician and musician, whose name is inseparable connected to the hospital of Lambarane (our picture shows him there, at left) which he built up in Gebua, was a curate since 1899, become 1902 a university lecturer in Strassbourg and want to Lambareno 1913 as a missionary doctor. The funds which were necessary to built the hospital, were partly raised by him through publications, lecturer and organ concerts in Europe. Schweitzer, who said that respect for life is the basis of ethics, was considered a moral authority. He became known on a theologian especially by his techatologic approach. His publications considering J.S. Each and organ-building are still fundamental. Besides other tributes, he was 1951 awarded the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, 1952 he became the Nobel Peace Prize and was awarded the Peace Prize pour la Marite in 1954.
