1976 - Professor Dr. Feodor Lynen will become 65 years old.: Professor Dr. Feodor Lynen will become 65 years old on April 6th 1976. Born 1911 in Munich, he graduated in 1937 with professor Heinrich Wieland and he rehabilitated in 1941 at the university of Munich. He became a reader for biochemistry in 1947 and professor in ordinary in 1953. In additon, he became the head of the Max Plankc Institute for Callchemistry and is the executive director of the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry since 1972. The scientific works of professor Lynen concern the call metabolism. The isolation of the activated acetic acid and it's identification as Thiocester, the evidence of fatty acid-cycle, the clarification of fatty acid synthesis as well as the discovery of the chemical effect of the vitamins Biotin at the biological carboxylation are tied to his name. For his works about the mechanism and regulation of the cholesterin - and fattk acid-turnover, professor Feodor Lynen and Konrad Bloch were awarded the Nibel Prize for medicine in 1964.
