Oct. 10, 1974 - Lord Shinwell - 90 today - presents Self-Propelling chair to thalidomide boy.: A 15-year old Thalidomide boy today celebrated with Lord Shinwell, the Labour peer's 90th birthday. Eddie Freeman, of Stevenage, Herts, born without arms or legs, received a self-propelled chair from Lord Shinwell at a luncheon held at the Savoy Hotel. It is the first of 24 chairs for Thalidomide victims from the Otis Elevator company.
