Sep. 24, 1975 - 24.9.195: 30 years ago died the German Physicist Hams Geiger: 30 years ago, on September 24th 1945, died physicist Hans Geiger at the age of 63 in Berlin. Geiger, known by many because of his invention of the Geiger-detector, was a student of Hutherford. Who lectured in Kiel, Tubingen and Berlin. Together with J.M. Nuttal he showed 1911 the so-called Geiger-Nuttal relation between energy and half-time of the Alpha-radiation of radioactive materials. 1928 he constructed together with W. Muller the Geiger-Muller detector. This device is used for detecting electric parts with which energy, mostly during nuclear physical tests
