Nov. 11, 1977 - New form of life on Earth: These pictures taken with an electron microscope show two different species of the organism which NASA National Science Foundation team of biologists has identified as a new form of life on earth, possibly dating back to the planets first billion years. Photo shows the photograph at the bottom shows the methane- producing organism about to undergo a cell division. At top, the photographed shows a chain of two organisms, representing a new strain of the new life form. Below the chain is a cross section of the organism. Each organism is 1/1000 of a milimetre long. The pictured are magnified to 30, 000 to 50, 000 times
