1977 - Royal Greenwich Observatory Exhibition Herstmonceux Castle Sussex Opened By Patrick Moore: The Royal Greenwich Observatory, Herstmonceux Castle, Sussex was Opened today as a permanent exhibition on astronomy. The ceremony was performed by Mr. Patrick Moore, the famous astronomer who is well known for his television programme The Sky at Night'. The exhibition the first of its kind over mounted at the Observatory, is being housed in a part of the Castle and members of the public will still be able to visit the Castle. it will display the history of the Observatory and Castle, part of the present programme of research and say something about future developments. Photo Shows Professor F. Graham Smith, The Director of the Royal Greenwich Observatory, and Patrick Moore, discuss the merits of Isaac Newton's reflecting telescope
