Jun. 13, 1976 - 60th birthday of Karl Herrligkoffer ? On Junen 13th 1976, physician and mountaineer Karl Kerrligkoffer will become 60 years old. Born in Schweinfurt, but raised in Bavaria, Dr. Herrligkoffer studied in Munich, where he graduated in 1940. During the war he had been commandeered to the anatomic institute of the Munich University and habilitated 1944 with his work ?Ovulation and conception-optimum?. Since 1946 Dr. Herrligkoffer has a practice in Munich. Besides his medical work however, Karl Herrligkoffer is a renowned mountaineer. Ten times he joined or led big Himalaya expeditions in Pakistan, Nanga Parbat Broad Peek (Karakorum) Rakaposhi (Hunza state); 34 mountain peaks have been conquested for the first time by him.
