General Electric scientists and engineers have come up with that promises to be the best method yet devised for combating hot corrosion in gas turbine buckets - the scoop-shaped airfoils that are spun by hot combustion gases, making the turbine rotate. Their solution to the problem is a tough, new corrosion-resistant coating that is applied to the buckets by a special plasma spray process. Here, John R.
