From 1960 lectureship at the Medical Faculty of the University of Hamburg, since 1963 Member of the Federal Health Council and Member of the Health Advisory Board of the Ministry of Defence, from 1964-1966 President of the Permanent Commission of Physicians of the EC, since February 1, 1966, Honorary Professor of the Hamburg University, since 1969 President of the German Society for Medical Diagnostics, since 1971 Dr h.c. of the University of Ottawa
