Jun. 22, 1959 - Rabbits were used in a biomedical project to investigate the hazard of burns to the retinal tissue of the eye from nuclear bursts during the Teak and Orange high attitude nuclear detonations which took place at Johnson Island in the Pacific, July - August 1958. Holding boxes containing rabbits are sized up with the front blister of a B-36 preparatory to placing the unit aboard the bomber for an Airborne study in conjunction with the biomedical project. All animals were handled in accordance with the rules of the American Med Association
