Desecration of synagogue in Cologne, Germany
Dec. 12, 1959 - Cologne Synagogue desecrated.: on Christmas night, the synagogue was desecrated with the words out with you, Jews (Juden raus!) painted on the wall of the synagogue, as well as swastikas. A wave of indignation in the German public was roused by this deed. Minister of the interior of Northrine-Westfalia, Dufhues, has promised 10 000 DM for the catching of the persons who had done the desecration, and the police were able to, on the evening of Dec 25th, arrest 25-year-old backer Arnold Strunk and Paul Joseph Schonen of Cologne. Strunk has already pleaded guilty. Both are members of the German Reiche Party. In the same night, they desecrated a monument to the victims of National Socialism.
