Hong Kong at Bursting point : Already desperate the situation in Hong Kong is becoming impossible with the increased flooding of refugees from China. The United States has agreed to increase its quote of refugees from the official figure of 105 a year to an expected four or five thousand. But still Hong Kong is hopelessly overcrowded. The colonies officials have done a fine job in trying to find homes and work for the thousands that cross the border daily. Block upon block of new flats have gone up but there are still thousands living in makeshift shacks, queueing for water and food, and hoping for better things in the Free World. Hong Kong : Hung with drying nets, the harbour is crammed with fishing boats
