Diana Dors with bandaged leg after fireworks party
Nov. 11, 1961 - Sid James Risks his life at stars Guy Fawkes Party: A fireworks party for the stars of show business given by Tommy Steele's manager, John Kennedy, turned into night of horror in which three persons died. And last night with Mr Kennedy's £8, 000 bungalow a heap of charred ruins, police were questioning the 60 guests to find out how it happened. Fire swept through the timber - built home on a Thames island after a huge pile of fireworks in an unturned umbrella on the patio was set alight. The toll: David Scott, 26, male model, Mrs. Hilda Parsons, mother of two little girls, and Barrister Michael Talbot, 49, who died from a heart attack after escaping from the flames. Actor Sid James fought his way back three times in the burning house to get people out. Photo shows Diana Dors, who was at the fireworks party, at her home afterwards. She cut her leg in a dive from a window when the flames engulfed the bungalow. Stitches were needed to close the wound. (Note bandage below her right knee)
